X50CrMoV15 German Steel
X — Stainless Steel - High-grade durable German Steel.
50 — Carbon Content - 0.5% carbon offers good hardness, which results in good edge retention. The blade stays sharper, longer.
Cr — Chromium - Ensures high rust resistance in the finish of the blades.
Mo — Molybdenum - Increases toughness and reduces the likelihood of chipping.
V — Vanadium - Improves grain structure and durability to reduce wear.
15 — Chromium Content - 15% chromium increases the resistance to oxidation and corrosion and allows the classification of ‘stainless steel'.
Note: Acacia wood varies in tone. Blocks may be slightly lighter or darker than blocks pictured. The Sugar (white) Knife Block has a white coated exterior and is made of the same acacia wood and soft wood interior that is gentle on knives. The Sugar tone may appear slightly different or more cream in person.
Use & Care+-
Wash your knives before first use.
Use the back or topside when scraping food off your cutting board. Using the sharp side will dull your blade.
To keep knives sharp, hand-washing is recommended. All Kilne knives are dishwasher safe.
Use a wood or plastic cutting board. Cutting onto metal, glass or stone surfaces can dull or damage knives
Cutting frozen foods can also damage your knives.
Store knives in a knife block or on a magnetic strip to keep them sharp and protected. Keeping knives loose in drawers can cause premature wear and tear.
Although Kilne knives are designed to stay sharper longer, we still recommend you sharpen or hone them often. See FAQ for more details.
Wipe magnetic block clean with a damp cloth (do not submerge or soak).

Why Canadians Love Kilne
Sharpness That Lasts
The chromium German steel blades feature a 13-degree angle edge designed to make fine cuts and stay sharp.
Fully Forged Construction
A single bar of steel is heated and hammered into shape, creating a durable, long-lasting blade.
Full Tang Blade
One piece of steel through the blade and into the handle, providing balance and eliminating weak spots.
Love at First Slice
Tackle any culinary venture from prep to table with all our ultimate award-winning knives, steak knives, kitchen shears and a sharpening steel.
The Chef's Knife
The the most versatile of kitchen knives. Great for fine cuts using the tip of the blade, everyday chopping, and heavy lifting like slicing through your favourite cut of meat. Use the broad, flat blade to crush garlic or bruise foods like lemongrass.
The Santoku Knife
Santoku can be translated as ‘three virtues/uses’. It's a great multi-purpose knife for mincing, dicing and slicing. A flatter, more linear, cutting edge limits rocking and ensures a more even landing from knife heel to tip, ideal for single downward cuts.
The Bread Knife
This serrated blade can slice all kinds of baked goods, cut tomatoes and soft fruits, or trim a pineapple or melon. Slice cheese and salami, or even carve up a roast in a pinch. Try shredding lettuce and cabbage too.
The Steak Knives
Not just for steaks. These small serrated knives are more powerful than your average table knife. The saw-like, serrated blade makes it easy to slice through crusty cuts like roasts, ‘biting’ down on meat with ease.
The Paring Knife
This smaller blade offers greater precision than larger knives, for finer cuts, exact slices, and delicate tasks like peeling, trimming, and removing seeds. It’s an ideal choice for small fruits and vegetables like strawberries and brussel sprouts.
The Shears
Perfect for herbs or cutting meat, such as sausage or steak, into bite-sized pieces. Use beyond the kitchen in the garden to cut flowers or greens and for odd jobs around the house.
The Sharpening Steel
This underrated tool aligns or ‘hones’ the knife blade, without removing steel (unlike a sharpener), for quick and easy alignment to keep blades sharp and cutting well.
The Magnetic Blocks
These sleek acacia wood blocks have a small footprint on countertops and are designed with soft wood inside that's gentle and won't dull your knives. Strong side magnets allow you to attach the steak knife blocks to either side of the block.
Love the blades and functionality but the block is in 3 separate pieces, which flop around with absolutely NO magnetic action. Unfortunate!
